We wanted to go to the Centro Mall in
Oberhausen since it has a Gap, Eddie Bauer, Sketchers,
Capstan Bay, etc.... So we made a weekend out of it and saw a
little bit of Düsseldorf along
the way. Also--Keith needed a haircut really bad so he got one in
the mall while we were there.
We went back to the mall again as part of our Birkenstock Factory
trip and, guess what? He
got another haircut at the same place in the Centro Mall. By the
SAME woman!!! We now say
that is an awfully long way for a haircut. (3-4 hours depending
on traffic)

| Well...we learned not to use a budget guide book to recommend a hotel! We were on the very top floor - 5 flights of stairs! |
A traditional German breakfast served at the hotel in the morning. We really like the brotchen (crusty rolls), jams, meats, hot tea and juice. |

| We walked around downtown Dusseldorf and saw an ice cream place...so we just has to have some ice cream! |
There's not much to see in Dusseldorf except for the Königs Allee. An Allee is a large road separated by something in the middle. In this case, a canal. |

The shopping on either side of the street is supposed to
compare with Rodeo Drive
in Beverly Hills. But we didn't check it out.

| Just outside of Dusseldorf was a Schloss. These are like palaces and the gardens are always amazing. |
Lots of statues - not that we really liked them. |

Welcome to industrial Oberhausen. |

| This is Amanda outside the mall with her Capstan Bay bag. |
This is Amanda inside the mall - very happy to have visited the Gap. (We have found, though, that it is much cheaper for us to order from the Gap online and pay for postage. The prices were about twice as expensive.) |
